Wisconsin active threat training designed around your space, people, and location
Who this active threat training course is for
Vantage Point Consulting trains front-line staff across Wisconsin who regularly interact with the public, including employees at churches, schools, hospitals, healthcare facilities, and commercial businesses statewide. Programs are customized for each industry and location’s specific risks and layout.
Decades of experience assessing physical spaces and risks
Vantage Point Consulting is a law enforcement–led emergency management and security training company based in Indianapolis, Indiana, serving organizations throughout the state.
VPC provides on-site and virtual active threat awareness training, active shooter drills, workplace violence de-escalation training, physical security risk assessments, and cybersecurity tabletop exercises to schools, hospitals, healthcare systems, and businesses throughout Wisconsin — as well as nationwide.
Wisconsin recorded 735 firearm deaths in 2024, and the state’s gun death rate has climbed 16% over the past decade. Firearms are now the leading cause of death for Wisconsin children and teens ages 1–17, with 50 killed in 2024 alone (CDC National Vital Statistics data, via the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions). Preparedness training is one of the few variables an organization can control before an active threat unfolds.
What you’ll learn in this active threat awareness and threat training
Active threat training prepares staff and security teams to recognize warning signs, de-escalate volatile situations, and respond effectively to an active shooter or other violent incident in Wisconsin workplaces, schools, and facilities.
Much of VPC’s training is built around R²EBA — Recognize, React, Evacuate, Barricade, Attack — a five-step response framework developed by our instructors that goes beyond standard “Run, Hide, Fight” guidance.

Course content focuses on recognizing risk factors, learning de-escalation skills, implementing emergency planning, learning response techniques and improving security precautions, including:
- Provide ability to prepare and Active Threat Emergency Plan and Policy.
- Provide a safe work environment.
Thousands of people across the U.S. have been trained by VPC’s experienced law enforcement trainers
Vantage Point Consulting was founded in 2015 and is staffed by trainers with a minimum of ten years of law enforcement or first-responder experience and more than 2,000 conducted exercises. “That was the best training I’ve seen out of Vantage Point! You have put together a really amazing team. The team understood the church setting and could really make the presentation relate to the needs.”
—Lori M., attendee at a church-based active shooter threat training
Active threat incidents are headline stories and human tragedies—seemingly random, seemingly unpreventable. But often there are warning signs and proactive steps to be taken to try to help prevent such a horrible event from occurring in the first place.
The emergency preparedness experts at Vantage Point Consulting design customized training and exercise programs that help prepare your staff to:
- Recognize risk factors
- Learn de-escalation skills
- Implement emergency planning
- Learn response techniques
- Improve security precautions
We can all recognize and remember cases involving business offices, malls, theaters, schools, restaurants, hospitals, and more. Threats may arise from, but are not limited to, any of the following:
- Risk from employee/supervisor disputes
- Risk from mentally unbalanced workers, their family members, or both
- Risk from radical members of the community
- Risk from employees using or seeking drugs
- Dysfunctional employee relationships and domestic disputes
- High-stress work environments
Active threat incidents trouble us all, but companies need to have an Active Threat Emergency Plan and Policy in place. Make sure your staff gets the training they need to enhance survival skills and preparedness abilities.
