Carey Slauter has been a contractor with Vantage Point for 7 years.  During this time, he has assisted Healthcare Coalitions and facilities conduct exercises, develop emergency preparedness plans, and provide emergency management trainings for many organizations.  Carey has been a career firefighter/paramedic for the last 28 years.  He is the Deputy Director of Indiana Department of Homeland Security District 5 Response Taskforce, currently serving as a Planning Section Chief.  Carey has a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management from Columbia Southern University and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.

Carey is married to his wife Carla and they have two grown daughters.  Carey enjoys hiking and backpacking in his spare time, and often visit State Parks.  Carey also is part of a Summer Field Study program that introduces high school students to various national parks in the western United States.  His family also serves at a local food pantry/ministry in the Greenwood area.

Carey enjoys working with different healthcare professionals in the area of emergency management and preparedness.  “While presenting different courses and classes around Indiana, I always learn something new from the participants to make me a better presenter.  Sharing experiences is the best way to learn and improve skills and concepts for the next event that occurs.  Working together and coordinating resources should be our goal for successful emergency operations.”
