19 northeast Indiana healthcare providers will take part in emergency preparedness exercises September 10

Last updated on

On September 10, 2018, area hospitals, health departments, emergency managers, and other healthcare partners will participate in an operational exercise.  The exercise will test many capabilities of the area’s healthcare system. In the 11 counties of Indiana District 3, 19 hospital facilities and close to 100 healthcare partner facilities will be included.  The healthcare partner group is made up of long-term care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, rural health clinics, dialysis centers, home health, hospice and physician offices.

These facilities are tasked with participating in these emergency preparedness exercises due to CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) regulations, however, the focus is how to improve response and be more self-sustaining during emergency events.

Vantage Point Consulting is proud to be selected to plan, conduct and evaluate this large exercise.  Many hours of planning and coordinating among the healthcare facilities is required to conduct a successful exercise.  This exercise process starts with setting objectives and determining the emergency that is to be included in the scenario.

Visitors, residents, and patients will likely not know anything different is occurring on September 10.  Patients’ and residents’ needs come before the exercise.

Call 844-982-6824 ext 702 with any questions about the exercise.

Indiana District 3 counties include Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley.
